Turning six years old is a magical time for little girls. All of a sudden they’re “big kids” who are able to do so many things they couldn’t before — children make huge developmental leaps at this age as they wrap up kindergarten, which means it's the perfect time to introduce some “big kid toys” to match their new independent personas. We’ve put together a list of gifts for 6-year-old girls that they’ll be sure to love and, more importantly, will hold their interest for more than five seconds.
Of course, even 6-year-old levels of wonder and excitement can’t entirely stave off the inevitable, frequent whine, aka the bane of parents everywhere: “I’m booored! There’s nothing to dooo!” (OMG, for real, kid? Because you’re literally sitting on a pile of discarded toys like a dragon on a horde of gold.)
When curating this gift list, we strived to select a variety of toys, books, and games that the little girl in your life will she’ll want to play with over and over again. These gifts for 6-year-old girls our those that the girls in our lives played with, built, and gave their unfiltered opinions on the great gifts on this list.
That means we can confidently say these choices will not only speak to your kiddo’s interests but, just maybe, might encourage some new ones along the way.
Most of the 6-year-old girls we know have a menagerie of stuffed animals. And the only thing that can make it more magical: unicorns in a whimsical rainbow carrier! This set includes two unicorns, a unikitty, a unipuppy, and a narwhal, the unicorns of the sea.
Your 6-year-old girl will love having their very own fairy sidekick who can actually fly! Just flip the switch, wait about 6 seconds for the fairy to gather her energy (as Cinderella’s Fairy Godmother once said, “Even miracles take a little time!”), and watch her soar. Your child’s hand will guide her as she zips around the room.
This fantastic DIY suncatcher kit includes everything they’ll need to stave off boredom for hours, with 12 suncatcher shapes, eight paints, and an acetate sheet to create their very own window-cling designs. Once their creations are dry, they can attach them to the suction cups and proudly display them on a window or other glass surface.
